Biochem/physiol Actions

Comments: Bacterial strains containing the ColE1 plasmid produce colicin E1, a protein that inhibits the growth of other Escherichia coli strains. They are themselves immune to low levels of colicin E1. Immunity can be tested by challenging strains with colicin E1 (Product No. C3026).
Unique Sites: Within the gene for colicin production: Ava I, EcoR I, Sac II, Sca I, Sma I.
