Slow rotational diffusion may be investigated by measuring the decay of dichroism of flash-induced transient absorption changes of suitable probes. The preparation of the covalent "triplets" probe eosin isothiocyanate is described together with investigations of spectroscopic properties of eosin-protein conjugates.
