General description

Extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer (EMMPRIN) or cluster of differentiation 147 (CD147) is a protein encoded by the BSG gene in humans. It is also known as Basigin (BSG). It is a widely expressed plasma membrane protein that has been implicated in a variety of physiological and pathological activities. Expression of CD147 is significantly higher in ectopic endometrial tissues in patients with endometriosis compared to normal endometrial tissues.

Immunogen

purified recombinant mouse extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer extracellular domain (amino acids 22-209), expressed in NSO cells.

Application

Anti-EMMPRIN antibody produced in goat is suitable for western blotting at a concentration of 0.1-0.2μg/mL and indirect ELISA at a concentration of 0.5-1.0μg/mL.

Biochem/physiol Actions

CD147 functions as an extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer, regulates lymphocyte responsiveness, monocarboxylate transporter expression and spermatogenesis. It interacts with cyclophilin family and acts as a signaling receptor to extracellular cyclophilins A and B. EMMPRIN expression in epithelial ovarian cancers (EOC) is higher than in benign ovarian tumors and normal ovaries. It is associated with the pathogenesis of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and may act as a biomarker for ACS. EMMPRIN plays important roles in tumor progression and sunitinib resistance in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). It could act as a novel target for the treatment of RCC.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline.
