Gene Information

human ... IL10(3586)

General description

IL10 (Interleukin 10) is a regulatory cytokine of the human immune system. It belongs to the Class 2 α-helical group of cytokines. The active molecule exists in a tight dimer form made of two interpenetrating subunits in a V-shaped structure. Both halves consist of six α-helices, four originating from one subunit and two from the other.

Immunogen

Immunogen Sequence: GI # 10835141, sequence 19-178
Recombinant interleukin 10

Application

Anti-Interleukin-10 antibody produced in chicken is suitable for indirect ELISA and western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Interleukin-10 (IL-10) is an anti-inflammatory cytokine encoded by the IL10 gene in humans and is mapped to chromosome 1. It is an important regulatory cytokine whose involvement extends into diverse areas of the human immune system. It is recognized to have potent and broad-spectrum anti-inflammatory activity and is established in various models of infection, inflammation and even in cancer. IL-10 is an immunosuppressive cytokine, which may help in facilitating carcinogenesis by down-regulating interferon-γ production and supporting tumor escape from the immune response.
