Gene Information
human ... KIT(3815)
General description
KIT (v-kit Hardy-Zuckerman 4 feline sarcoma viral oncogene homolog) is a tyrosine kinase receptor, the gene of which is localized to human chromosome 4q12. It is a transmembrane receptor, and is also called CD117. It is expressed by mast cells, hematopoietic progenitor cells, germ cells, melanocytes and interstitial cells of Cajal.
Immunogen
Immunogen Sequence: GI # 4557695, sequence 113-208
Recombinant V-kit Hardy-Zuckerman 4 feline sarcoma viral oncogene homolog
Application
Anti-KIT antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Mutations in receptor tyrosine kinase KIT, plays an important role in the pathogenesis of systemic mastocytosis (SM) and gastrointestinal stromal tumors. KIT tyrosine kinase receptors are implicated in the control of cell growth and differentiation, stem through duplications. KIT and its ligand and the stem cell factor play a key role in normal hematopoiesis.

Gain-of-function mutations of receptor tyrosine kinase KIT play a critical role in the pathogenesis of systemic mastocytosis (SM) and gastrointestinal stromal tumors. D816V KIT mutation, found in ∼80% of SM, is resistant to the currently available tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs)
