Biochem/physiol Actions
BRCA1 is a human tumor suppressor gene. Its main function is to maintain genomic stability through the assembly of multiple protein complexes involved in DNA repair, cell-cycle arrest and transcriptional regulation. BRCA1 is associated with breast and ovarian tumor suppression. Mutations in BRCA1 is involved in the pathogenesis of breast and ovarian cancer. BRCA1 promoter methylation is associated with better response to platinum-taxane-based therapy in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). BRCA1 mutation may drive the formation of tumors in estrogen-regulated tissues.

Mutations in BRCA1/2 genes are involved in the pathogenesis of breast and ovarian cancer. Inactivation of these genes can also be mediated by hypermethylation of CpGs in the promoter regions. Aim of this study was to analyse the clinical impact

Germline mutations in BRCA1 predispose carriers to a high incidence of breast and ovarian cancers. BRCA1 functions to maintain genomic stability through critical roles in DNA repair, cell-cycle arrest, and transcriptional control. A major question has been why BRCA1 loss

BRCA1 is a breast and ovarian tumor suppressor. Given its numerous incompletely understood functions and the possibility that more exist, we performed complementary systematic screens in search of new BRCA1 protein-interacting partners. New BRCA1 functions and/or a better understanding of
