Gene Information

human ... SRP54(6729)

General description

SRP54 (signal recognition particle 54kDa) is a component of the cytoplasmic ribonucleoprotein complex called SRP. It functionally contains an N-terminal, a central G-domain and an M-domain rich in methionine. It has the SRP19 binding region in its 6 and 8 helices.

Immunogen

Immunogen Sequence: GI # 4507215, sequence 300-504
Recombinant signal recognition particle 54kDa

Application

Anti-SRP54 antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Protein SRP54 serves to recognize, bind and transport proteins for the membrane or secretion. The methionine-rich M-domain of protein SRP54 (SRP54M) binds to SRP RNA and the signal peptide as protein emerges from the ribosome. It interacts with nascent signal peptide and SRP RNA. SRP54 helps in regulating the targeted secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER).

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.
