Anti-RGS1 antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Regulator of G-protein signaling 1 is a protein encoded by the RGS1 gene in humans and is mapped to chromosome band 1q31. This region is known to be implicated in the pathogenesis of haemopoietic malignancies. The gene RGS1 belongs to RGS family and it impairs MAP kinase activation by mammalian G-protein-linked receptors. It encodes a member of the regulator of G protein family and is found to be overexpressed in gene expression-profiling studies of melanoma. RGS1 may act as a novel prognostic marker for melanoma. The gene may be in linkage disequilibrium with a protective allele that reduces the risk of anxiety and depressive disorders.

Quantitative trait loci identified in animal models provide potential candidate susceptibility loci for human disorders. A general property of signal transduction pathways is that prolonged stimulation decreases responsiveness, a phenomenon termed desensitization.
