Gene Information
human ... NUP62(23636)
General description
NUP62 (nucleoporin 62kDa) is a component of the nuclear pore complex (NPC), and is located in the central channel. It is a glycosylated FG-Nup (phenylalanine and glycine -rich nucleoporin). It has an NTF2 (nuclear transport factor 2)-docking site at its FG-rich N-terminal region. A Ser/Thr rich linker connects the FG-rich region to the C-terminal, which supposedly is the glycosylation site. The C-terminal acts as an anchor to NPC, and has a coiled-coil conformation.

Recombinant nucleoporin 62kDa; nucleoporin p62; nucleoporin 62kD
Application
Anti-NUP62 antibody produced in chicken is suitbale for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Nucleoporin p62 (p62) is synthesized as a soluble cytoplasmic precursor of 61kDa. Nup62 proteins are degraded in infected cells of human rhinovirus (HRV) and poliovirus (PV) and that contributes to the disruption of certain nuclear transport pathways. It is found to be cleaved at multiple sites during viral infection. Loss of this gene leads to aberrant centrosome segregation, and maturation of centriole during the G2 phase. Inactivation of this gene also results in multi-nucleated cells, multi-polar centrosomes, abnormalities in centrosome synthesis and aberrations in spindle orientation. Thus, Nup62 might be involved in the targeting of SAS (spindle assembly)-6 and γ-tubulin to centrioles.
