Gene Information
human ... CEACAM5(1048)
General description
CEACAM5 (carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 5) is a member of the CEACAM receptors, which in turn belong to immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily. Its N-terminal contains an Ig variable-region-like domain, which is succeeded by multiple Ig constant-region-like domains. The latter domains protrude into the exoplasmic space. It is expressed by the squamous epithelial cells of the female genital tract.
Immunogen
Immunogen Sequence: GI # 11386171, sequence 460-600
Recombinant carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 5
Application
Anti-CEACAM5 antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 5 (CEACAM5 OR CEA) is expressed by cancer cells. It is considered as an independent tumor marker in monitoring metastatic colorectal cancer and can be detected in the blood serum. CEA acts as a prognostic marker for malignant diseases (such as early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)). Increase in serum CEA may be attributed to the presence of local inflammation in the lung. CEA level may be a suitable biomarker for predicting tumor response.

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.
