Gene Information

human ... IL17A(3605)

General description

Interleukin-17a (IL-17A) is a member of the six member pro-inflammatory cytokine family called IL-17. The members are designated from IL-17A to IL-17F. IL-17A is synthesized by TH17 cells belonging to the CD4+ and CD8+ lineage. This gene is localized to human chromosome 6p12.1.

Immunogen

Immunogen Sequence: GI # 4504651, sequence 20-155
Recombinant interleukin 17A

Application

Anti-Interleukin-17a antibody produced in chicken is suitable for indirect ELISA and western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Interleukin-17A is a proinflammatory cytokine produced mainly by CD4+ T-lymphocytes and plays a critical role in inflammation. Chronic inflammation is a pathological feature of cancer. It may play an important role in tumor cell growth and progression. IL-17 levels might be useful for diagnostic and prognostic test for lung cancer patients with malignant pleural effusion (MPE). Cells producing IL-17 may act as a useful biomarker for the prognosis of sarcoidosis and play a role in the spontaneous recovery typical of patients with Löfgren′s syndrome.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.

Interleukin (IL)-17 plays a critical role in inflammation. Most studies to date have elucidated the inflammatory role of IL-17A, often referred to as IL-17. IL-17F is a member of the IL-17 family bearing 50% homology to IL-17A and can also
