Gene Information
human ... UCHL5(51377)
General description
Ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase L5 (UCHL5), a cysteine protease, is an integral part of the protein homeostasis network. It belongs to the family of ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolases (UCHs). UCHL5 is a proteasome-associated deubiquitinating enzyme, that is ubiquitously expressed in most of the normal human tissues. UCHL5 gene is located on human chromosome 1q31.2.
Immunogen
Ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase isozyme L5 recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)
Application
Anti-UCHL5 antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunohistochemistry(1:800).
Biochem/physiol Actions
Ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase L5 (UCHL5) is considered a new prognostic marker in rectal cancer and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. UCHL5 along with Rpn13 plays a key role in maintaining the progression of cell-cycle and DNA replication. It is necessary for effective polyubiquitin removal from proteasomal substrates, which leads to proteasomal substrate breakdown. The absence of UCHL5 may also inhibit the degradation of specific substrates, resulting in apoptosis.
Features and Benefits
Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.
Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
- IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
- Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.

Gastric cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Accurate prediction of disease progression is difficult, and new biomarkers for clinical use are essential. Recently, we reported that the proteasome-associated deubiquitinating enzyme UCHL5/Uch37 is a new prognostic

The ubiquitin-proteasome pathway plays an important role in the regulation of cellular proteins. As an alternative to the proteasome itself, recent research has focused on methods to modulate the regulation of deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) upstream of the proteasome, identifying DUBs
