Inhibin β-Subunit (also called as MSMB, microseminoprotein-β) is a cysteine-rich and nonglycosylated protein. It is one of the major components of semen.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Inhibin β-Subunit (also called as MSMB, microseminoprotein-β) is upregulated in ovarian cancer and is correlated with the levels of prostasin. Low expression of MSMB is linked with increased risk of prostate cancer. It is involved in the inhibition of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone), thereby abolishing growth-enhancing activity of FSH in prostate cancer.
