Biochem/physiol Actions
DBA has anti-A1 human blood group specificity, useful for distinguishing between A1 and A2 blood types. DBA has strong anti-Cad activity, and has an affinity for terminal N-acetyl-α-D-galactosaminyl residues. Conjugates are prepared from affinity purified lectin.
Analysis Note
Agglutination activity is expressed in μg per mL and is determined from serial dilutions in phosphate buffered saline, pH 6.8, of a 1 mg per mL solution.
This activity is the lowest concentration to agglutinate a 2% suspension of human blood group A1 erythrocytes after 1 hr incubation at 25°C.
