Biochem/physiol Actions
MIG, a member of the α (CXC) chemokine family of inflammatory and immunoregulatory cytokines, is a chemoattractant for activated T lymphocytes and TIL, but not for neutrophils or monocytes. The MIG gene is induced in macrophages and primary glial cells of the central nervous system specifically in response to IFN-γ. MIG with large C-terminal deletions have diminished activity in calcium flux assay. The chemokine receptor CXCR3 is specific for MIG and IP-10 and highly expressed in IL-2-activated T-lymphocytes.
Physical form
Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in 30% acetonitrile and 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid containing 0.5 mg bovine serum albumin.
Analysis Note
The biological activity is measured by its ability to chemoattract human lymphocytes cultured for 8-10 days in the presence of IL-2.
