General description

MOG (myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein) is an integral membrane protein. It is expressed in the central nervous system and is localized to oligodendrocytes and myelin lamellae (outermost). The MOG gene is mapped to human chromosome 6p22.1.

Biochem/physiol Actions

MOG serves as an efficient CD4+ T-cell response inducer in vitro. This protein consists of 218 amino acids and two transmembrane domains.
This is a truncated peptide from the human Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein (MOG) responsible for the induction of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis in mouse and rat models for human multiple sclerosis research.
