Application
Designed for molecular weight determinations on silver stained SDS-PAGE (Laemmli) gels. The proteins supplied in these markers cover the range of molecular weights common to most proteins or their subunits. The markers are formulated to yield a distribution of well-defined bands of approximately equal intensity with low background after electrophoresis and staining using either ProteoSilver™ (PROTSIL1) or ProteoSilver™ Plus (PROTSIL2).
Packaging
Vial contains 200 μl of protein markers. Supplied with one vial of 2× Laemmli sample buffer (S3401).
Physical form
Solution in 300 mM NaCl, 100 mM DTT, 3 mM NaN3, and 50% glycerol
Preparation Note
Dilute the concentrate between 1:15 and 1:30 depending on the amount of protein loaded in the other lanes. Recommended loading volumes are 10 μl per well for mini gels (10 × 10 cm) or 20 μl per well for standard format gels (16 × 18 cm).
Other Notes
Will yield 9 bands with silver staining:
- α2-Macroglobulin, 180,000 Da
- β-Galactosidase, E. coli, 116,000 Da
- Phosphorylase b, Rabbit Muscle, 97,000 Da
- Serum Albumin, Bovine, 66,000 Da
- Fumarase, Porcine Heart, 48,500 Da
- Carbonic Anhydrase, Bovine Erythrocytes, 29,000 Da
- β-Lactoglobulin, Bovine Milk, 18,400 Da
- α-Lactalbumin, Bovine Milk, 14,200 Da
