Application

SDS protein separation medium is a buffered replaceable matrix designed for high resolution separation of SDS-denatured proteins by capillary electrophoresis. Separation of proteins by molecular size capillary electrophoresis requires a sieving matrix in the capillary column. Cross-linked polyacrylamide-filled capillaries have been used for SDS-PAGE of proteins, but the lifetimes of the columns were generally short. More recently, UV-transparent replaceable matrices have been used in which the solution is removed form the capillary tube by pressure and replaced with fresh sieving solution between each run.

Other Notes

Contains sieving matrix in Tris buffer and SDS.
