General description
Matrix metalloproteinase-21 (MMP-21) is a secreted protein expressed in fetal tissues, adult tissues and cancer cell lines. It is a 57kDa protein. The gene encoding it is localized on chromosome 10 and is made up of seven exons.
Immunogen
synthetic peptide corresponding to the carboxyterminal end of human matrix metalloproteinase 21.
Biochem/physiol Actions
By immunoblotting against the reduced protein, the antibody identifies bands at 70 kDa and 66 kDa.
Matrix metalloproteinase-21 (MMP-21) is involved in increasing the invasion capacity and metastasis property of tumors.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline containing 50% glycerol and 0.05% sodium azide.
