General description

Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptor M3 controls smooth muscle contraction and its stimulation causes secretion of glandular tissue.
Muscarinic acetylcholine receptor M3 possesses a vestibule which is a part of a hydrophilic channel having a orthosteric binding site.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide from the third extracellular loop of rat m3 (Accession P08483).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Muscarinic acetylcholine receptor M3 functions as a protectant in myocardial ischemia. It also has roles in smooth muscle contraction and glandular secretion. The receptor has a specific affinity for the Gq/11 family of G proteins.
Muscarinic acetylcholine receptor m3.

Physical form

Lyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% BSA, and 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative.

Acetylcholine, the first neurotransmitter to be identified, exerts many of its physiological actions via activation of a family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) known as muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs). Although the five mAChR subtypes (M1-M5) share a high degree of sequence

The M(3) subtype of muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (M(3)-mAChR) plays a protective role in myocardial ischemia and microRNAs (miRNAs) participate in many cardiac pathophysiological processes, including ischemia-induced cardiac injury. However, the role of miRNAs in M(3)-mAChR mediated cardioprotection remains unexplored. The
