Molecular Basis of Cell Cycle and Growth Control

Cell cycle is an intricate and complex series of events in the growth of a cell that culminates in cell division. Continuing advances in understanding control of proliferation at the cellular, biochemical and molecular levels has illuminated possible therapeutic strategies for treating deadly diseases that are caused by defects in the cell cycle, such as cancer. This book introduces the biological problem of cell cycle control within a historical context, using a broad spectrum of model systems that have provided the foundation for our current understanding of growth control in mammalian cells.
