Gene Information

human ... NDRG1(10397)

General description

N-myc downstream regulated 1 (NDRG1) is a member of the N-myc downregulated gene family that belongs to the alpha/beta hydrolase superfamily. In humans, this protein is mainly expressed in epithelial cells.

Application

Anti-NDRG1 (C-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The cytoplasmic protein encoded by N-myc downstream regulated 1 (NDRG1) gene participates in stress responses, hormone responses, cell growth and differentiation. It is necessary for p53-mediated caspase activation and apoptosis. NDRG1 is a Rab4a effector, that participates in vesicular recycling of E-cadherin. It plays a key role in peripheral nervous system myelination. It also helps to modulate lipid fate in breast cancer cells.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
