Studies show that smoking has an effect on the level of pepsinogen I present in serum in a H. pylori-dependent manner. Patients with lower titer levels had higher levels of pepsinogen I.
Used as a control in ELISA.

One unit will produce a delta A280 of 0.001 per min at pH 2.0 at 37 deg C, measured as TCA-soluble products using hemoglobin as substrate. (Final Volume of reaction mixture = 16mL, 1 cm light path)
