General description

Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily Q member 2 (KCNQ2) is one of the five isoforms of KCNQ channels. It is expressed in the central and peripheral nervous system.

Immunogen

peptide corresponding to amino acid residues 578-593 of rat KCNQ2. This epitope is identical in mouse and highly homologous in human (15/16 residues identical).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily Q member 2 (KCNQ2) acts as a mediator of sub-threshold activated muscarinic-regulated K+ current (M-current). It modulates neuronal excitability. Mutations in the gene encoding this protein have been associated with benign neonatal familial convulsions.
The antibody does not cross-react with KCNQ3 or other QKT proteins. There are at least 9 splice variants of rat KCNQ2. The antibody recognizes all splice variants except B and G.

Physical form

Lyophilized at ~0.7 mg/ml from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% bovine serum albumin and 0.025% sodium azide.
