General description
Caspase-12 (CASP12) is an immunomodulatory factor, that is present in the cytoplasmic side of the ER (endoplasmic reticulum). It is upregulated highly in muscle, liver and kidney.
Immunogen
a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids within the small cleavage product of murine caspase-12.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Caspase-12 (CASP12) plays an important role in endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-related apoptosis. It moderates hepatocyte apoptosis prompted by carbon tetrachloride. Lack of caspase-12 (CASP12) increases cytokine responses.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide
Other Notes
The action of this antibody can be blocked using blocking peptide SBP3197.

Altered protein homeostasis is associated with neurodegenerative diseases and acute brain injury induced under energy depletion conditions such as ischemia. The accumulation of damaged or unfolded proteins triggers the unfolded protein response (UPR), which can act as a homeostatic response
