General description
Reelin encodes a large secreted extracellular matrix protein thought to control cell-cell interactions critical for cell positioning and neuronal migration during brain development. This protein may be involved in schizophrenia, autism, bipolar disorder,
Immunogen
synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 322-340 of rat reelin, conjugated to KLH. This sequence is highly conserved in mouse reelin (single amino acid substitution) and human reelin (84% identity).
Biochem/physiol Actions
Anti-Reelin recognizes reelin, ~400 kDa.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% BSA and 15 mM sodium azide.
Preparation Note
For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in "frost-free" freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.

Neocortical circuits consist of stereotypical motifs that must self-assemble during development. Recent evidence suggests that the subtype identity of both excitatory projection neurons (PNs) and inhibitory interneurons (INs) is important for this process.
