Gene Information

General description

Reelin encodes a large secreted extracellular matrix protein thought to control cell-cell interactions critical for cell positioning and neuronal migration during brain development. This protein may be involved in schizophrenia, autism, bipolar disorder,

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 322-340 of rat reelin, conjugated to KLH. This sequence is highly conserved in mouse reelin (single amino acid substitution) and human reelin (84% identity).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Anti-Reelin recognizes reelin, ~400 kDa.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% BSA and 15 mM sodium azide.

Preparation Note

For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in "frost-free" freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
