General description

The Human Adiponectin ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human Adiponectin in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants and urine.

Immunogen

Recombinant Human Adiponectin

Application

For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Human ADIPOQ / Adiponectin ELISA Kit has been used for the measurement of adiponectin in human plasma.
Human ADIPOQ / Adiponectin ELISA Kit has been used in the quantification of leptin and adiponectin from serum and plasma samples.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Adiponectin (ADIPOQ) is an adipocyte specific secreted protein that circulates in the plasma. The protein has a carboxyl-terminal globular domain and an amino-terminal collagen domain. It has anti-atherosclerotic and anti-inflammatory properties. ADIPOQ has a role in physiological processes such as energy homeostasis and obesity. It exhibits anti-diabetic action by interacting with adiponectin receptors, AdipoR1 and AdipoR2. Low levels of adiponectin are also linked with hypertension and dyslipidemia. Mutation in the gene encoding it is linked with risk for endometrial cancer.
