Gene Information
human ... TET2(54790)
General description
Tet methyl cytosine dioxygenase 2 (TET2), a TET oncogene family member 2/ten-eleven translocation 2, is a tumour suppressor gene which encodes a DNA demethylase enzyme. In human chromosome, the gene TET2 is localized on 4q24.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Tet methyl cytosine dioxygenase 2 (TET2) catalyses the conversion of 5-methylcytosine (5mC) to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) in DNA. TET2 is essential for normal myelopoiesis, epigenetic programming, embryonic stem cell maintenance and early development. Mutations in TET2 leads to myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), myeloproliferative disorder, myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). Mutations also causes different leukaemia like chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML), acute myeloid leukaemias (AML), secondary AML (sAML) and myeloid malignancies. TET2 regulates mast cell differentiation and proliferation and cytokine production.
Physical form
Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification.
