General description

NUP88 (Nucleoporin 88kDa) is an 88kDa non-FG nucleoporin. It acts as a component of a novel nuclear pore complex (NPC). It consists of a C-terminal coiled-coil domain and an interaction domain. It is localized in the cytoplasmic surface of nuclear pore complexes (NPCs). NUP88 consists of two domains, N-terminal and C-terminal domains and its N-terminal and C-terminal domains have been predicted to form β-propeller and a coiled-coil domain.

Application

ANTI-NUP88 (C-TERM) antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for western blot analysis at a dilution of 1:250-1:500.

Biochem/physiol Actions

NUP88 (Nucleoporin 88kDa) participates in trafficking between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Its N-terminal β-propeller domain interacts with the FG (phenylalanine-glycine) repeat domain of nucleoporin CAN/Nup214. Further, it binds directly to CRM-1/exportin-1, the receptor for export of most proteins from the nucleus. Nup88 also possesses the ability to bind to the other FG nucleoporins Nup358 and Nup98. Overexpression of NUP88 has been observed in several types of malignancies such as colorectal cancer (CRC) and breast cancer cells.

Physical form

Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification.

Nuclear pore complexes are massive multiprotein channels responsible for traffic between the nucleus and cytoplasm, and are composed of approximately 30 proteins, termed nucleoporins (Nup). Our recent studies indicated that the nucleoporins Rae1 and Tpr play critical roles in maintaining

The oncogenic nucleoporin CAN/Nup214 is essential in vertebrate cells. Its depletion results in defective nuclear protein import, inhibition of messenger RNA export and cell cycle arrest. We recently found that CAN associates with proteins of 88 and 112 kDa, which
