General description
Lectin mannose binding 2-like (LMAN2L), also known as vesicular integral-membrane protein 36(VIP36) like protein (VIPL), is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 2q11.2. It is a high-mannose type I membrane glycoprotein and is a member of the L-type lectin family. LMAN2L is expressed in wide variety of tissues.
Monoclonal Anti-LMAN2L/VIPL (mouse IgM isotype) is derived from the hybridoma VIPL-12 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with a synthetic peptide.
Immunogen
synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the N-terminal of human LMAN2L, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in mouse, rat, monkey, bovine and canine LMAN2L.
Application
Monoclonal Anti-LMAN2L/VIPL antibody produced in mouse may be used in immunoblotting.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Lectin mannose binding 2-like (LMAN2L) is a cargo receptor in the endoplasmic reticulum which has a role in glycoprotein transport. It may be implicated in targeting folded glycoproteins to the Golgi and misfolded glycoproteins to the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. LMAN2L expression has been associated with bipolar disorder.
Lectin mannose-binding 2-like (LMAN2L) contains a luminal carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) that binds to high-mannose type sugars in a Ca2+-dependent manner.
Monoclonal Anti-LMAN2L/VIPL recognizes human LMAN2L/VIPL.
Physical form
Solution containing 15 mM sodium azide.
Preparation Note
For continuous use, store at 2-8°C for up toone month. For extended storage, freeze at -20oC in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing,or storage in “frost-free” freezers,is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation beforeuse. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
