Gene Information

General description

Monoclonal Anti-AXL (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma AXL188 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding to an internal sequence of human AXL. AXL (Adhesion-related kinase) is a part of TAM (Tyro3, AXL and Mertk) family of receptor tyrosine kinases. Its ligand is Gas6 (Growth arrest specific gene 6). It is located on the human chromosome at 19q13.2.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to an internal sequence of human AXL

Application

Monoclonal Anti-AXL antibody has been used in
  • immunoblotting
  • immunocytochemistry
  • immunofluorescence
  • flow cytometry

Biochem/physiol Actions

Activated AXL (Adhesion-related kinase) elicits a protective action in cells from apoptosis. It also increases migration, aggregation and growth by activating several downstream pathways. AXL has been found to play a significant role in pathogenesis and progression of human cancers including breast, hepatic cellular carcinoma, thyroid, esophageal, astrocytoma-glioblastoma. It was also suggested to serve as an important biomarker for disease status and prognosis.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
