General description
Anti-C/EBP-α Antibody detects endogenous levels of total C/EBP-α protein.
CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein α (C/EBPα) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 19q13.1. The encoded protein belongs to the basic leucine zipper (bZIP) family of transcription factors. CEBPA is highly expressed in differentiated tissues.
Immunogen
The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human C/EBP-alpha.
Immunogen Range: 6-55
Immunogen Range: 6-55
Biochem/physiol Actions
The transcription factor CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein α (C/EBPα) plays an essential role in tumor progression. It blocks β-catenin to repress lung adenocarcinoma cell invasion and migration. CEBPA is implicated in the regulation of hematopoiesis and terminal differentiation of various cell types like adipocytes, hepatocytes and different epithelial cells. Variations in the gene expression has been observed in 5–10% of cases of acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
