General description
Anti-WASP Antibody detects endogenous levels of total WASP protein.
WASP (Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein) codes for a 65 kDa protein, localized to the cytoplasm. The WASP gene is mapped to human chromosome Xp11.23.
Immunogen
The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human WASP.
Immunogen Range: 256-305
Immunogen Range: 256-305
Biochem/physiol Actions
WASP (Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein) is regarded as a scaffold protein that integrates cell surface signals to actin cytoskeleton. WASP gene regulates actin polymerization, contributing to T-cell activation and migration. Neural WASP is known to regulate a variety of cellular processes including pathogen infection, vesicle trafficking, invadopodium formation and growth, and neurite extension. Mutation in this gene causes WAS, a X-linked recessive immunodeficiency disorder.
