Gene Information
human ... CD19(930)
General description
The gene CD19 (B-lymphocyte antigen) is located on human chromosome 16p11. The encoded protein is a transmembrane protein which is specific to B-cells.
Immunogen
The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human CD19 around the phosphorylation site of Tyr531.
Immunogen Range: 501-550
Immunogen Range: 501-550
Biochem/physiol Actions
CD19 (B-lymphocyte antigen) plays an important role in BCR (B cell receptor) signaling. It serves as a B cell receptor (BCR) co-receptor. In B cells, phosphorylated CD19 induces signaling of SRC-family kinase (SFK) LYN and tyrosine kinases. It also participates in B-cell selection and differentiation. In mice, overexpression of CD19 causes hyper-responsive to BCR induction, thus resulting in lupus-like autoimmune disease. Mutations in this gene can result in common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) in humans.
