Gene Information
human ... ACSS2(55902)
General description
This gene encodes a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the activation of acetate for use in lipid synthesis and energy generation. The protein acts as a monomer and produces acetyl-CoA from acetate in a reaction that requires ATP. Expression of this gene is regulated by sterol regulatory element-binding proteins, transcription factors that activate genes required for the synthesis of cholesterol and unsaturated fatty acids. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2009]Expression
Immunogen
A synthesized peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 100-125 of human ACSS2 [NP_061147.1].
Physical form
Solution in PBS (pH 7.4) containing 50% glycerol, and 0.02% sodium azide.
Other Notes
Gently mix before use. Optimal concentrations and conditions for each application should be determined by the user.
