Application
Caspase 6 is inhibited in a variety of in vitro assays by the peptide VEID-CHO (N-Acetyl-Val-Glu-Ile-Asp-al). Ac-AAVALLPAVLLALLAPVEID-al is a cell permeable peptide that contains the VEID-CHO motif making it useful for inhibition of caspase 6 inside cells.

Caspases, effectors of apoptosis, are key mediators of neuronal death in several neurodegenerative diseases. Caspase-8 and caspase-6 have been implicated in the pathogenesis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and Alzheimer's disease (AD). ß-Amyloid precursor protein (APP) is

The objective was to determine the effect of three different protease inhibitors, caspase-6 specific inhibitor VEID-CHO (N-Acetyl-Val-Glu-Ile-Asp-al), calpain inhibitor leupeptin or calpain inhibitor EGTA on protein degradation, ultrastructure of myofibrils and calpain activity during postmortem (PM) aging of chicken muscle.

In the present study we demonstrated that the flavonoid derivative trifolin acetate (TA), obtained by acetylation of naturally occurring trifolin, induces apoptosis. Associated downstream signaling events were also investigated. TA-induced cell death was prevented by the non-specific caspase inhibitor z-VAD-fmk

Aberrant activation of caspase-6 has recently emerged as a major contributor to the pathogeneses of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Huntington disease. Commercially available assays to measure caspase-6 activity commonly use the VEID peptide as a substrate. However these
