General description
LIMK1 (LIM domain kinase 1) belongs to the serine-threonine protein kinases. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 7q11.
Biochem/physiol Actions
BMS-3 shows cytotoxic effects not related to LIMK, but rather through reduction of the levels of tubulin transcripts and induction of mitotic arrest.
It is a specific inhibitor of LIMK1. LIMK1 is responsible for the inactivation of cofilin (ADF family protein), leading to actin reorganization. It is upregulated in several invasive cancers.
Potent inhibitor of the LIM kinase 1 and 2 (LIMK1/2)
