Biochem/physiol Actions

Chemiluminescence probe, after glow substrate, known for its high sensitivity in detecting reactive oxygen species like superoxide anion and singlet oxygen, both intracellularly and extracellularly.

MCLA (methoxylated Cypridina luciferin analog) is a highly sensitive probe employed in the detection of reactive oxygen species (ROS), particularly superoxide anion (O2•−) and singlet oxygen (1O2). It is notable for its blue luminescence (~ 455 nm), which is a critical indicator in ROS detection. MCLA′s detection mechanism involves oxidation to a probe radical, which then reacts with O2•− to produce luminescence. MCLA offers a broad dynamic range, making it versatile for both intracellular measurements in live cells and extracellular detection in various sample types. Its application is particularly significant in research related to oxidative stress, inflammation, and neurodegenerative diseases, where ROS play a pivotal role. Ex: ~ 430 nm, Em: ~ 549 nm.
