General description

BODIPY-TMR-X NHS ester is a hydrophobic, orange fluorophore with seven-atomaminohexanoyl spacer for amine-bioconjugation.

Application

BODIPY-TMR-X NHS ester may be used as a fluorescent labeling reagent to enable visualization and tracking of molecular interactions in biological systems and imaging workflows.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The BODIPY-TMR-X NHS ester is a versatile and stable tool forbioconjugation to amine-containing molecules, providing enhanced fluorescencecharacteristics and reduced interference with biomolecules, making it ideal foradvanced microscopy techniques due to its brightness and narrow emission. This bright orange fluorophore exhibits spectral properties akin to tetramethylrhodamine (TMR, TRITC), boasting high extinction coefficients and quantum yields, while maintaining relative stability across varying solvent polarities and pH levels, with excitation and emission maxima at approximately 544 nm and 570 nm, respectively. The hydrophobic nature of BODIPY-TMR-X NHS makes it particularly effective for labeling lipophilic structures such as lipids and cell membranes. Furthermore, BDP-TMR-X’s narrow emission bandwidths, prolonged excited-state lifetime, and substantial two-photon cross-section render it highly suitable for advanced applications including fluorescence polarization assays and multiphoton microscopy.
