Biochem/physiol Actions
Nerve growth factor-β (NGF-β) is a potent neurotrophic factor that supports the growth and survivability of nerve and/or glial cells. It brings pro-survival effects with the help of receptor tyrosine kinase TrkA. NGF-β is associated with diabetic neuropathy and ischemic heart disease. It is also involved in airway nerve system. NGF-β is also responsible for the pain which is linked with osteoarthritis (OA). It is involved in liver fibrosis, carcinogenesis, angiogenesis and cholangiocyte proliferation.
General description
Nerve growth factor-β (NGF-β) belongs to the neurotrophin family. The active form of human NGF-β is a homodimer, non-glycosylated chain.
Physical form
Lyophilized without any additives.
Preparation Note
Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL containing 1% HSA or BSA. The solution can be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at 4°C for 2-7 days or store at –20°C for future use.
