Gene Information

human ... BMP7(655)

General description

Bone morphogenetic protein-7 (BMP-7) belongs to the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily. The gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 20q13.

Biochem/physiol Actions

As implied by their name, bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) promote and regulate bone development, growth, remodeling and repair, in both prenatal development and postnatal growth of eye, heart, kidney, skin, and other tissues. Based on its expression early in embryogenesis, BMP-7 has a proposed role in early development. In addition, the fact that BMP-7 is closely related to BMP5 has led to speculation of possible bone inductive activity. BMP-7 induces apoptosis in B-cells. It has a role in organ development and may have a role in liver regeneration. Mutations in the gene encoding the protein have been shown to affect the development of teeth, palate and other orofacial complexes.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a solution of 50 mM sodium acetate, pH 4.5, with 50 mM NaCl.

This study presented the effect of bone morphogenic protein-7 (BMP-7) inhibiting epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in silicosis model. In vivo, Wistar rats were exposed to silica by intratracheal instillation. Seven days later rats were treated with BMP-7. Rats were sacrificed at

Laser-scanning cytometry is presented as a tool allowing population scale analysis of ex vivo human brown adipogenic differentiation. It combines texture analysis and detection of Ucp1 protein content in single brown adipocytes of mixed cell populations with gene expression pattern
