General description
Granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) or colony stimulating factor 3 (CSF-3) is a cytokine. The active protein is found extracellularly. Three transcript variants encoding three different isoforms have been found for the GCSF gene. Human and murine G-CSF is cross-species reactive. The gene encoding G-CSF is localized on human chromosome 17.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Granulocyte/macrophage colony-stimulating factors are cytokines that act in hematopoiesis by controlling the production, differentiation and function of two related white cell populations of the blood, the granulocytes and the monocytes-macrophages. Granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) controls the production, differentiation and function of granulocytes. It has been shown to have a role in bone repair in animal models. G-CSF has been clinically approved for neutropenia treatment.

Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF), a pleiotropic cytokine, belongs to the hematopoietic growth factor family. Recent studies have reported that G-CSF is a predictive biomarker of oocyte and embryo developmental competence in humans. The aim of our study was to determine

Circulating hematopoietic stem cells exhibit robust circadian fluctuations, which influence the mobilized cell yield, even during enforced stem cell mobilization. However, alterations in the expression of circadian clock genes during granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)-induced peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) mobilization
