Application

Tyrphostin 25 has been used for studying its effect on transcriptional repression induced by the adenoviral oncoprotein, E1a, in HeLa cells. Tyrphostin 25 has also been used to study the migration inhibition in IEC-6 cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor.
Tyrphostin 25 is a small molecule inhibitor of epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor kinase function. This molecule associates with the substrate subsite of the protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) domain,.

Preparation Note

Tyrphostin 25 is soluble in DMSO at a concentration that is greater than 50 mg/ml and yields a clear, yellow to orange solution.

This study was undertaken to determine the role of tyrosine kinase on intracellular Ca(2+) ([Ca(2+)](i)), myosin light chain (MLC) phosphorylation, and contraction caused by norepinephrine (NE) in rat aorta. NE induced a sustained contraction with an increase of [Ca(2+)](i). On
