Application
Mouse TARC (thymus and activation regulated chemokine) is a ligand for CC chemokine receptor 4 and is a potent and selective chemoattractant to helper T cells leading to their migration through the early phase of the immune response.
Biochem/physiol Actions
A CC chemokine; ligand for CCR-4; selectively expressed on T cells; chemotactic for T cell lines.
TARC is a CC chemokine that mediates the hippocampal-neuron survival in the CNS. It also enhances the CTACK-inducing effect of TNF-α in keratinocytes. Additionally, chemokines can modify trafficking (chemotaxis) of leukocytes, especially systemic T cells.
TARC, a CC chemokine and the ligand for CCR-4, is a receptor that is selectively expressed on T cells and chemotactic for T cell lines.
Physical form
Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in 30% acetonitrile and 0.1% TFA containing 1.25 mg bovine serum albumin.
Analysis Note
The biological activity is measured by its ability to induce chemotaxis of human CEM NKR cells.

CC chemokine receptor (CCR)4, a high affinity receptor for the CC chemokines thymus and activation-regulated chemokine (TARC) and macrophage-derived chemokine (MDC), is expressed in the thymus and spleen, and also by peripheral blood T cells, macrophages, platelets, and basophils. Recent

Thymus and activation-regulated chemokine (TARC) is a recently identified CC chemokine that is expressed constitutively in thymus and transiently in stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells. TARC functions as a selective chemoattractant for T cells that express a class of receptors
