General description

YB-1 (Y-box-binding protein 1) is a member of the evolutionary conserved Cold-Sock Domain (CSD) proteins. It is ubiquitously expressed in adult tissues and throughout embryogenesis.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acidds 137-150 of human YB-1, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in rat and mouse proteins.

Application

Anti-YB-1 (N-terminal) antibody has been used in immunoblotting and immunofluorescence.

Biochem/physiol Actions

YB-1 (Y-box-binding protein 1) plays a major role in a wide variety of cellular functions such as transcriptional and translation regulation, DNA repair, drug resistance and stress responses. YB-1 deficient embryos die during late embryonic development and exhibit a runting phenotype.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Human YVH1 (hYVH1), also known as dual specificity phosphatase 12 (DUSP12), is a poorly characterized atypical dual specificity phosphatase widely conserved throughout evolution. Recent findings have demonstrated that hYVH1 expression affects cellular DNA content and is a novel cell survival
