We describe the use of electron-capture gas chromatography or reversed-phase "high-performance" liquid chromatography for concurrent analysis for diazepam and nordiazepam in serum. In the gas-chromatographic analysis our use of a new chemically deactivated stationary liquid phase, SP 2250-DB (Supelco, Inc.)

A new column packing, SP-2510 DA (Supelco, Inc., Bellefonte, Pa. 16823), is an excellent stationary phase for the determination of a wide variety of anticonvulsant drugs by gas--liquid chromatography without derivatization. Halazepam and its major metabolite desmethyldiazepam (DMDZ) can be reliably quantitated in human plasma following single doses of halazepam. After addition of appropriate internal standards, halazepam and DMDZ are extracted directly into an organic solvent at physiological pH. The organic

A rapid and simple analytical method is described for the determination of clonazepam in plasma using electron capture gas chromatography. Following a single microextraction with 100 microliter of toluene from 200-500 microliter of plasma, clonazepam is quantitated on a SP-2250

The gas chromatographic identification of barbiturates isolated from biological material is not optimal, and due to their polar nature, it is difficult to obtain good resolution on most columns. To improve resolution, flash alkylation appeared to be a reasonable alternative.
