General description

Chlorotrimethylsilane is widely used in characterising organolithium compounds. It is also used in establishing the degree of polymetallation by organolithium compounds.

Application

It was used to reconstitute the phytic acid residue during derivatization procedure, before injecting the residue into GC for determination of phytic acid content in biological samples. It was also used in toluene for silanizing all the glassware used for detecting, identifying and quantifying polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) using solid-phase microextraction combined with gas chromatography with electron capture detection.

Other Notes

Reagent for trimethylsilyl chlorohydrin, trimethylsilyl and trimethylsilyl ether.
