General description

o-Xylenes belong to the class of harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which can adversely impact human health and ecosystem.

Application

o-Xylene has been used as a reference standard for the determination of o-xylene in air by solid phase micro-extraction/gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (SPME/GC/MS) and in water by directly suspended droplet microextraction (DSDME) coupled with gas chromatography-flame ionization detector (GC-FID) as well as portable gas chromatography−microflame ionization detector (portable GC−μFID) combined with headspace SPME.
It may be used as a reference standard for the identification of o-Xylene in different microenvironments by multibed adsorption and short-path thermal desorption (SPTD) followed by GC-MS analysis.
