mConfig™ Cell Culture Media and Chemicals Configurator

A woman with dark hair in a ponytail sits at a desk, looking at a computer monitor displaying a colorful dashboard with six yellow tiles.

The mConfig™ Cell Culture Media and Chemicals Configurator simplifies requesting custom cell culture media and process chemicals by allowing you to submit requests through a secure web browser connection directly to our manufacturing team. The software enables you to easily manage your custom product setup requests, whether placing a request that is an adaptation of an earlier request or creating a completely new custom product definition. The mConfig™ tool supports requests for both new pre-GMP  imMEDIAte Advantage® small-scale samples or new manufacturing-scale GMP custom media products as well as the setup of a custom process chemical product.

Leveraging raw material R&D expertise, the mConfig™ Configurator delivers tailored recommendations to optimize your formulation. With consultative insights, the tool supports informed decision-making to improve formulation quality and performance.

The compositions requested via mConfig™ Configurator rely on high-quality SAFC® materials and are backed by our global quality systems, services, and support you count on.

Key Benefits:

  • Real-Time Recommendations: Receive immediate feasibility checks and feedback on manufacturability, including suggestions for alternative components to improve consistency, performance, and process control
  • Self-service Request Intake: Available from a browser 24/7, enhance productivity by simplifying new product setup requests, allowing you to meet all requirements for setup and submit online. You can also check the status of requests any time.
  • Improve Accuracy: By reducing the errors associated with manual handling of long lists of complex chemicals.
  • Enhanced Confidentiality: Formulations are sent directly to the technical and manufacturing teams, strengthening confidentiality of your proprietary data.
  • Accelerated Delivery: Readily available and qualified materials minimize sourcing delays, improve consistency, speed up request workflows, and ensure faster shipment turnaround times. The interface: simple, logical navigation with clear guidance and prompts

Within the application, a left navigation bar allows you to move easily between menu choices. Through these menu screens, mConfig™ Cell Culture Media and Chemicals Configurator guides and prompts users to provide all information necessary to successfully submit a custom cell culture media or process chemicals order.

Throughout the software, near text fields, radio buttons, or multiple-choice check boxes, are question mark icons that when clicked on provide guidance on how to complete the field. In some cases, these help prompts also link to additional resources outside the application.

Displayed is a help tooltip explaining that the 'New imMEDIAte ADVANTAGE' option is for first-time powder formulation requests, prototype evaluations before scale-up, and production scales between 0.5 kg and 20 kg, with a 'Learn More' link for additional information.

Define Formulation

In the Define Formulations screen, the mConfig™ Configurator provides feasibility checks and real-time feedback on the manufacturability of custom cell culture media and process chemicals.

It leverages the expertise of our Research and Development technical teams to offer optimization options, such as higher purity alternatives better suited for a specific application, a component with improved solubility, or chemicals tailored to reduce clumping. The configurator also checks whether materials meet quality requirements, presenting users with various options.

Changes are never made without your acceptance of the suggested alternatives, ensuring you maintain control over the formulation process.

The page includes menu options to add items, sort them, toggle view, and delete entries. A table titled 'Formulation List' contains rows of ingredients, with fields for common description, CAS number, quantity, unit of measure, and line number. A warning is shown next to 'Pyridoxal, HCl', recommending replacement with 'Pyridoxine Hydrochloride' for improved stability. A red 'Fix This' button appears next to the message, prompting the user to take corrective action should they wish to accept the recommended substitution.

Saving a Draft or Submitting a Request

The Summary Page displays all the choices made in each successive menu in the left navigation bar. You can save your work as a draft or you can review and submit your request.
