Beyond Benign Nonprofit Partnership

Increasing Global Access to Green Chemistry Education with Beyond Benign

In alignment with our Life Science Sustainability Strategy, we are increasing access to Green Chemistry education through our partnership with Green Chemistry education nonprofit Beyond Benign. By helping to transform chemistry education, we can better prepare the next generation of scientists to imbed sustainability practices in chemistry.

What Does the Partnership Support?

Through our partnership, we provide access to resources and support needed to apply greener practices in chemistry education. This is key to reducing environmental and human health impact, while simultaneously accelerating sustainability in science.

Our partnership helped create the Green Chemistry Teaching and Learning Community (GCTLC), an online platform of green chemistry resources “for the community, by the community”.

Our contribution builds global awareness of Beyond Benign’s higher education Green Chemistry Commitment (GCC) program to motivate the incorporation of green chemistry into chemistry curriculum.

What Does This Mean in Numbers?

Our partnership with Beyond Benign supports our company’s sustainability strategy. In March 2023, we expanded our partnership with Beyond Benign to provide resources and support needed to foster a Green Chemistry community that empowers educators to transform chemistry education for a more sustainable future. With more than 250 GCC signers, Beyond Benign has enabled over 7,000 faculty members to integrate Green Chemistry education into their curriculum, reaching over 6.8 million students.

By 2030, we aim to engage 18.7 million students with the help of 15,500 faculty members across 525 GCC signing institutions.
